During World War II, Nazi Germany occupied Serbia from 1941 to 1944, establishing a puppet government known as the Government of National Salvation under Milan Nedić. This 10 Dinara coin, issued in 1943, represents one of the few official coinages struck during this occupation — a powerful reminder of a turbulent chapter in Balkan history.
The coin features the Serbian coat of arms (double-headed eagle with cross), symbolizing national identity even under foreign control. The reverse bears the denomination surrounded by oak and laurel wreaths, traditional emblems of strength and victory.
Struck in zinc, a metal often used during wartime shortages, these coins circulated in an economy controlled by the German military — where inflation, rationing, and forced labor defined daily life. Today, few have survived in such clean condition, and this one has been authenticated by NGC, ensuring its historical integrity and authenticity.
